She couldn’t wait to come out – 3 weeks premature. It was going to be a natural delivery but she decided to go into the Frank Breech position 30 mts after we reached the hospital. She couldn’t wait to crawl, stand, cruise, walk and run around. She carries heavy objects with her scrawny little frame (the weighing machine, laptop and her chairs just got added to the list of things she likes to carry) and won’t eat another bite once she’s made up her mind to stop. So I’ve known for a while now that she’s willful. But it feels like overnight she become naughtier. I don’t know what happened. It’s like she’s trying to talk and some gibberish is coming out and she’s frustrated we’re such ignorant fools that cannot follow what she’s trying to say.
Yesterday she was screaming like a banshee. She had this determined look about her all day. She set her mind to something and got it. She dragged us out and had us hold her hand as she wanted to walk around the neighborhood. Yes walk, no stroller or carrying business. She took us upto 2 houses down and then we had to carry her back. She exhausted herself, like she can’t wait to grow. She has these new red crocs she loves wearing. It was hilarious and my mother, oh my mother she’s been chuckling to herself. She’s been with us since the day she was born, literally as it was the very same night when I went into labor unexpectedly that mom landed at the airport with neither of us to pick her up. There was a cousin of course. And she’s finding all this extremely funny because she knows we’re in over our heads with this one. She’s getting naughtier and my mother finds it funny – exactly the way physical comedy is funny on those sitcoms. Yes she will derive pleasure as we inevitably proceed to the phase of pulling out our hair and she will hear the stories from afar after a good night’s rest.
We can’t complain. It’s been a good run and we’ve been thoroughly pampered. Mom’s been mothering us all. And now it’s time for us to be alone with our baby. We’re nervous but mostly excited! We’ve been putting her to sleep, transition and all. Does she sleep in her crib? No, that ship has sailed. You have to let go of some things when you depend on another to care for your child. And since Mom cared for her she did what she thought was best. So m little one likes to sleep on her own gigantic bed. She also likes to eat at night on occasion. As long as her needs are met she doesn’t fuss for her ammamma too much. She’s so much like my sister. She still gets up sometimes to get an extra chug of milk at around 1.30 a.m. I’m not stopping it now since she’s lost a half pound, 18 pounds now, maybe she grew taller but she is a skinny kid so if she wants to eat I’m not gonna stop her yet.
She won’t sleep in the crib now anymore except for naps. It’s not like she wants us right next to her holding her either. She just wants her bed which is large enough for her to do 360 degree rotations all through the night. She likes to toss and turn. When I sleep with her she actually directs me to what she wants, she probably knows clueless mom could use her help. She doesn’t do that to her dad or my mom because ammamma already knows the drill and well geez come on dad’s the calm hard worker she trusts. She’ll look into my face and wake me up and grunt and point to the rocking chair i.e rock me to sleep or the bottle i.e I’m hungry or her diaper i.e change me now. I’m quite thankful she’s helping me out 😉 oh and my litte rowdy just got her first tooth on Sept 19th, atleast that’s when I first felt it. I cannot believe she’s going to be one soon. It has been quite a year 🙂
