There couldn’t have been a better place to start this blog. Albeit, I’m starting a little late. I have been in India a little over a month and will be here till December. I grew up here but this is the first time I’ve had to be a grown up. Let me clarify that a bit before you draw up your own conclusions.
I have always had the luxury of staying here with my parents who would take care of everything. My mother managed the household and we were spoiled silly. This time around I am here with my two kids under five and my husband was only here for a short period, since, somebody has to work. So I’m solely responsible to keep the kids well fed, occupied and out of trouble. I was banking heavily on my mother’s assistance but due to some circumstances she is required to be away for extended periods of time. This has never happened before! I was 17 when I first left home to study and I think the longest our mother left us alone at home was for a couple of days. She is here a few days every week and my father is a huge help when it comes to playing with and entertaining the kids but it’s definitely been a challenge.
It’s taken us sometime to find our feet but we’ve settled in to a rhythm of sorts now. I’m probably not being very sane signing up for this but I’ve realized I will never get ‘enough’ time for something. The kids have taught me that I’m just going to have to make time for it. So here I am! And now, I’ll have to leave. See you soon 🙂
