My lovely friend Deepu asked me to write a poem with a few prompts and her vibrant painting to inspire. I’m proud to present today on National Poetry Day our creative work together, some joy in these dark times, some light and some hope!
A deathly silent dervish ensues
The shortest ticking hand it pursues
Unfocused and wild
As the baton passes to its longest blade
With each second stemming fear post destruction in its wake
Vigorous howling whirling dancing
Spectators watch, some mock, then fall in line
Rhythmic dancing to keep in step with a spinning world
Whirling dervishes chanting and singing together to find our center so balance restores
