Emerging with shrill newborn wretched cries
we know to take a front row seat to our lives
Eyes wide and bewildered we explore
Our world in 3D surmised
attention only warranted by essentials
creators, nurturers, food, sun, moon and the sky
untainted, present and precocious we see unfiltered with our minds
but as time goes on and our self love is worn
appetites get larger for things our stomachs can’t hold
illusions afar and unreachable glimmer and shine
Holding us hostage, pining to make mine
No longer needs but wants on feeds
the world grows bigger and we shrink smaller
it’s not curiosity or adventure to live
what fills our hearts now is
a bitterness a burden a scarcity
an always battle uphill
we lose sight of the why just the what and the how and we want it all right now, right now
we’re extras in our own plays
looking beyond the balconies seeking something anything that’s not ours
Mine mine mine all of us gollums opine
bliss blundered peace possessed by delusional dreams of clueless cravings for heady hits
our own play abandoned
front row seat forfeited
for the love of a make belief life filled with empty greed
wasting wallowing woeful wishful
when all’s right there in you because you exist
just notice your breath it’s blissful
such a pity, such a ride, a path to nowhere when all you had to do was to look inside with wonder
right here and right now
